そろそろ海沿いの遊歩道に”ジャカランダ”が咲くころだなとネットで調べていると、およそ同時期に、糸川沿いにブーゲンビリアが咲き誇ることが解った。記載によると、現在がほぼ満開だそうである。ジャカランダついでに、立ち寄ってみることにした。
草花には、それほど知識がない。小さな花壇や花屋の鉢植えに咲いているブーゲンビリアしか見たことがなかったので、川沿いに”咲き誇っている”、というイメージが全く湧かない。川の流れを見下ろす道路沿いに、花壇か何かがあっただろうかと考えたが、思い当たらない。一体どこで咲いているのだろうとの疑心を抱えたまま、出掛けてみたのであった。
As I thought that "Jacaranda" was blooming soon, I realized by the internet that "Bougainvillea" bloomed along "Ito River" at the same time. According to the
description, the flowers are almost in full bloom now. I decided to drop in on the river too incidentally.
I have few knowledges of flowers. I looked at the blooming Bougainvillea in the small flower beds and In the potted plants of flower shops. I couldn't imagine
they were fully blooming along the river. I wondered weather there were some
flower beds along the road from which we could look dawn the river. But I had
no idea. Where did the flowers bloom? I went out with suspicion.
糸川に到着して、川縁を眺める。驚いたことに、満開だと言える花は一種のみで、歩道の手摺りから無数の枝が長く延びている。花をつけている枝は、川面を覆うように重そうに垂れている。これが？と思ったが、川沿いまで下りているのは女性の観光客だろうか。皆、盛んに写メを撮っているのだった。

川縁から見上げると、鮮やかな赤や青紫の花が鬱蒼と垂れこめているようである。中南米の原生地では、この妖艶な魅力で、情熱的なラテンの人々を楽しませているのであろう。糸川はアタミザクラだけだ思っていたが、それは単なる思い込みであった。

狭くて降りにくいかもしれないが、車道から川縁まで石段が降りている。凸凹しているのでちょっと歩きにくいが、簡素な遊歩道があるので、下からも上からもブーゲンビリアを愛でることができる。開花期間は長いようなので、旅の休憩がてらにゆっくり眺めてみるのも、また違った楽しみが増えるであろう。

difficult to walk because the surface was bumpy. We would be able to enjoy
Bougainvillea from below and from above. I heard that the bloom period was
long. If you looked at it slowly in a break during the travel, a different pleasure
would be added to you.
因みにではあるが、ブーゲンビリアの花言葉は、海水浴と温泉旅情の熱海っぽい「情熱」と「あなたしか見えない」であるらしい。
By the way, the language of the flower, Bougainvillea, is "Passion" and "I can
only see you!". I think that the languages are suitable for Atami of sea bathing
and hot spring travel.
