ここ数年、６月下旬になると気温が異常に上昇している。その日はちょっと早い時間から用事があり、それも早く済んだので、サンビーチに寄ってみる。空が青い。じっとしていても汗ばむ。
冷たい海水に足を浸したくなって、靴を脱いで波打ち際へと歩き出す。と、砂浜がすでに灼熱で、走っていても熱い。予め持参したサンダルを履いておけばよかったと後悔しつつ、やっと湿った砂を踏むものの、足の裏の痺れはなかなか治まらない。
思ったほど海水温が低くなかった。多少風はあるものの、これだけの気温だったら、さすがの冷え性でも潜れるのではないか、と、まるで根拠のない期待の方へ気持ちが傾いていく。取り敢えず帰宅したものの、取り敢えず準備をしてしまう。いやいやと思いつつ、天気予報を調べると、しばらくは好天のようである。試しに潜ってみて、あまり寒いようであったら、すぐに帰ってくればいい、との結論に至った。
The temperature has risen abnormally for last few years in late June. At the day, I had a business from a little early. But as it finished soon, I decided to visit Sun Beach. The sky was clear blue. I sweated even if I kept still.
As I want to soak my feet into the sea, I took off my shoes and walked to the shore. But,,,, the sand was already scorching! Even if I ran on the beach, it's too hot. I regretted that I had to choose to put on the sandal which I was ready for. Though I finally stepped on the wet sand, the numbness in the soles of feet didn't get better soon.
The temperature of the sea was not as low as I thought. A weak wind blew, But I baselessly became to expect that this high temperature was enough for me to enjoy the skin diving despite that I am sensitive to cold. Anyway, I came back to home and began to be ready for the diving. However, I hesitated. I checked the weather forecast. It looked like good for a while. I concluded that If I felt too cold during the diving, it would be good to judge that I have to go back.
海開きをしていない時期に潜るのには、大きな利点がある。海水浴シーズンになると、サンビーチの左方は海水浴客向けのアトラクション・スペースとなってしまい、施設の営業が終了した後でも、何故か全く立ち入らせてもらえない。そのため、アトラクション開始前か、終了後でなければ観察できないのである。ここには奥にテトラポットがある。昨今の熱海の海水は頗る綺麗なので、ソフトコーラルやサンゴ類が少しだけ育っている。また、影の多いその辺りは魚影が濃い。
It has a great advantage for me to play the skin diving before the sea opening. During the beach season, we can't enter into the left side of the beach anytime absolutely (I can't understand the reason) because some attraction is established there for the bathers. Therefore, we can observe here only before and after the summer season of Sun Beach. There are tetrapod near the beach. Recently, as the sea water of Atami is very clean, some soft corals and corals grow. And a school of fishes live around the tetrapod because of a lot of shadows.
一年中潜れたらサンビーチを通年観察できるのではないかと、先日、川奈のインストラクターさんに無理なお願いをして、ドライスーツでスキン・ダイビングを試させてもらった。結果はさんざんであったが、非常に貴重な体験ができたと思っている。昨年は軽装で試したので、何もウエイトを付けなくともすんなり潜れたが、ドライスーツであると、ちょっとしたウエイトではなかなか沈潜しない。加えて、潜降できたとしても、さらに潜っていくためには目一杯最速でフィンを動かさなければ沈んでいかない。これでは息が上がってしまって、短時間しか海中観察ができない。
I considered that if I could enjoy the skin diving in the cold season, I would be able to observe Sun Beach through a year. A few weeks ago, I made an unreasonable wish for my familiar instructor. The wish was that I want to try the skin diving with putting on my dry suit. Though the result was dismal, I had a very valuable experience. As I tried the skin diving by the light suit, I didn't use any lead weights. However, I couldn't sink by putting on a little weight when I used the dry suit. In addition, even if I succeeded to sink, I must move my fins very hard and fast to sink more. As I was out of breath soon, I couldn't observe the sea view for the long time.
とても楽しめた。何が楽しかったと言って、ビーチ沿いが人で溢れる海水浴シーズンをまだ魚たちが知らないため、近づいても怖がらず、逃げないのである。海水の流れによっては避けるものの、一緒に並んでいても離れない。シーズン後には、魚種によっては警戒心が芽生えてしまっているので、なかなかこうはいかない。おそらく今が一番、魚と一緒に泳げる時期である。
I could enjoy very much. What I enjoy was that the fishes weren't afraid of human and didn't escape because they hadn't known the sea bathing season full of people. They avoided me in the flow of the sea water. Even if I swam with thme side by side, they didn't leave around me. As some kinds of fishes grow the wariness after the season, we wouldn't do that. Probably now is the season in which we can swim together.
カゴカキダイの幼魚は並泳してくれた。チョウチョウオの幼魚は岩陰に隠れない。ボラも悠然と目の前を通り過ぎ、警戒している様子がない。スズメダイやソラスズメダイも周りで群れている。海中漂う小枝のようなアオヤガラの子供は動かぬまま潮に揺れている。人差し指の爪ほどのハコフグの幼魚がいた。ウミスズメは、接近しても動じない。どこに行っても、それぞれに自分のペットがいるようである。次回はどんな生き物がサンビーチを訪れているだろうか。楽しみでならない。
The babies of stripey swam with me side by side. The babies of Chaetodon auripes didn't hide in the shadows of the rocks. The gray mullets leisurely passed in front of me and didn't take care of me. The pearl-spot chromis and the neon damselfish was flocking around me. The children of bluespotted cornetfish like a twig drifting in the sea were swaying in the tide without moving. The baby of boxfish was as big as the nail of the index finger. The spiny boxfish didn't escape even when I approached. It seemed that I had many pets everywhere. What kind of creatures will I observe next time? I'm looking forward to it.
