2022年の夏に、ウクライナ国立バレエ団の公演を初めて鑑賞させていただいた。ロシアからの侵略が始まってから、初の海外公演であった。貴重な舞台への熱意が強かったこともろう。自信に満ちた優雅さと、演ずる楽しさと、に溢れる演技に圧倒されてしまった。当時の感動を今一度味わいたい気持ちは、常に燻ぶっていた。

プリンシパル・バレリーナであるこの方は、戦火を逃れ欧州を転々とした後、神戸に避難した。下の動画でも一部を放映しているが、”瀕死の白鳥”は圧巻の一言であった。この演技が、水面を思わせる青い照明だけを照らした、広く暗い舞台で演ぜられる。
This principal ballerina evacuated to Kobe in Japan after fleeing the war and

below. Her performance of "The Dying Swan" was so impressive! It was
performed on a large, dark stage which was lit only by blue lighting reminiscent of the surface of the water.
こちらは当時、ニュース番組で取り上げられた、才能あるウクライナの若きバレリーナの苦難である。報道の数日前に、公演を拝見していた。
This video is the story of the suffering of a talented young Ukrainian ballerina. It was featured on a news program at the time. I had seen her performance just a few days before the news was on air.

”ジゼル”"Giselle"
I've seen it in previous performances.
"It's a tragic love story between Albrecht, a count who hides his identity, and

「身分を隠した伯爵”アルブレヒト”と、生まれつき体の弱い村の娘”ジゼル”との悲恋である。アルブレヒトの素姓を知ったジゼルは、ショックで息を引き取ってしまう。その後、踊りの精霊ウィリとなり、墓前に表れたアルブレヒトを、精霊の王女が踊り狂わせようとする。裏切られたにもかかわらず、ジゼルはアルブレヒトを庇う。それによって、アルブレヒトは生き残る。」
Giselle, a village girl who was born physically weak. When Giselle finds out the
true status of Albrecht, she dies from the shock. Then Giselle turned into the
dancing spirit, Willis. When Albrecht appeared at her grave, the spirit princess
tried to make him dance wildly. Despite being betrayed, Giselle protects
Albrecht. As a result, Albrecht survives."
That had been the plot, but in 2023, only the end of the story was altered. Now, the ending is that Albrecht dies at his grave, and they live intimately in the
というのがこれまでの筋書きであったが、2023年に物語の終盤だけを改変した。現在では、アルブレヒトは墓前で死し、あの世で二人が結ばれる設定になっている。現在のロシアによる無慈悲な爆撃により、ウクライナの人々は戦地でない、日常の生活空間で無残な死を遂げている。そうした悲遇を反映した結末になっている、と言えよう。

”ゴパック”
This is an attractive Ukrainian folk dance. In the performance, male dancers
男性は飛び跳ねて躍動感に溢れ、一方の女性は、たおやかな挙措の魅力的なウクライナの民族舞踊である。男女の調和に美しさがある。ウクライナの民族衣装を着用して踊っている。
"Gopak" This is an attractive Ukrainian folk dance. In the performance, male dancers
were jumping many times and are full of dynamism. On the other hand, the
female dancers played graceful and smooth behaviors. There is the great
beauty in the harmony between men and women. The dancers wore Ukrainian ethnic costumes.
今回はバレエ鑑賞と共に、オーケストラの生演奏も聞くことができる、お得な公演であった。
This time, I was able to enjoy a live music by orchestra in addition to watching
the ballet, so it was a great value performance.

orchestra, it was actually an Ukrainian orchestra. It’s amazing!
第2幕 ”スプリング・アンド・フォール”
The costumes were very simple. The dance was an abstract dance that
衣装も簡素な、バレエというよりは身体芸能に近い抽象的なダンスであった。この名目”Spring and Fall”には、多様な意味が潜んでいる。バレエの世界では”跳躍と落下”、一般の人々にとっては一年の生命循環を表す”萌芽と落葉”となる。
Act 2: "Spring and Fall"The costumes were very simple. The dance was an abstract dance that
resembled physical art rather than ballet. The title "Spring and Fall" has many
hidden meanings. In the world of ballet, it means "jumping and falling". But, for
the ordinary people, it means "sprouting and falling leaves," which represents
the annual cycle of life.
演目が終わった後のカーテン・コールでは写真も動画も撮影できる、とは、驚き演出である。折角なので動画の撮影を試みたのだが、距離が遠いのと暗い館内に舞台が明る過ぎるのとでピントが全く合っておらず、残念な出来栄えとなってしまった。
It was a surprising project that we could take photos and videos during the
curtain call after their performance. As I got the chance, I tried to take a video.
But the distance was too far from my seat and the stage was too bright in the
dark hall. So, the video was completely out of focus. Therefore, its result was
disappointing for me.
