ここも桜に続き、日本一早咲きの梅があると言う。残念ながらその時期に訪れたことがないので真偽のほどはわからないが、ほんの短い一時期、熱海では梅も桜も同時梅を愛でることができるのは確かである。園内には約６０種、４６９本の梅の樹が、根を張っているとのことである。

梅には個人的に、思い入れがある。二十歳の私は大学受験で二浪の身で、精神的に荒んでいた。前にも上にも視線を上げず、下を向いて歩くことに固執していた。目を隠すため、髪も伸ばした。そんな折に私の視線を上げてくれたのが、梅の強い香りであった。花は目で見ずとも観賞できるのだと、これまでの概念が一変した瞬間であった。
 

Here is also the earliest place that the flowers of plum blossom in Japan, like 
Sakura. I'm sorry that I don't know whether it is true because I haven't visit 
during the time yet. But it's sure that there is the special short time that we can enjoy Sakura and Ume together. In this plum park, 60 species, and 469 trees of plum are living now. 

I have a strong feeling to Plum flower personally. When I was twenty years old, I was the second-year student who failed the entrance examination of 
universities. I persisted at looking down always, and deny to looked at the 
scene in front of me and also looked up the sky. I lengthened my hair to hide my eyes. At the time, a strong smell of plum flowers leaded me to look up the 
source of the smell. I understood that we could feel the flower without looking at it, and my old thought was changed at the moment.
入り口を入ってまず目に入るのが、根の近くから二つに分かれた、この巨大な松の木である。寄り添って伸びるこの姿が、”夫婦の円満”を表しているらしい。

At first, this big pine tree which is devided into two stems come to my eyes after we go through the entrance gate. We heard that the shape which stand closely 
represent the long couple happiness.
遊歩道の張り巡らされた緩やかな傾斜の敷地は結構奥まで伸びており、ゆっくりと観賞しながら歩くとなると、３時間充分にかかるだろうか。
途中には、松尾芭蕉の句の石碑、熱海梅園韓国庭園、高名な作曲家の中山晋平記念館などがあり、飽きることがない。

The promenade stretches everywhere in this garden which is on the slow slope. If  we observed all places by using enough time, it would take 3hours.  
There are the stone monument which is curved the Haiku by Basyo Matuo, 
the south Korian garden which memrialize the kind relationship between south Korea and Japan, and the museum of Shinpei Nakayama who is a famous composer in the old times on the way. So you wouldn't be bored in this park.
川沿いを遡上してくると、梅見の滝に出会う。裏側には暗い洞窟が掘られており、落下する滝の流れを目の前で眺めることができる。ちょっとした冒険心や探検気分が味わえよう。

If you walked up the road along with the river, you would meet with "Umemi no Taki (Waterfall watching plum). As the cave is dug at the back cliff of the waterfall, you can look at the falling water before your eyes. Maybe you can taste a 
heart of adventurer or a feeling of explorer. 
こんな山原でも温泉を堪能できるのが、熱海らしい。

毎年期間限定で「梅まつり」や「もみじまつり」が開催されていて、茶屋では甘酒がふるまわれたり、広場ではイベントが開かれたりしている。夏の夜には、園の中央を下る静かな小川の上を、蛍の尻灯が優雅に乱舞する。ただ、照明がほとんどないので、懐中電灯などを持参するのがお薦めである。歩道のすぐ脇が川筋なので、やもすると小川に転落しかねない。細心の注意が必要であろう。

It seems to be Atami that we can enjoy Onsen such the place in the middle of 
mountain. 

"Plum Festivel" and "Coloured Leaves Festival" are held annually in this 
plum garden for a limited time. Amazake ( a sweet Japanese Sake, low alcohol) is served at the Tyaya (small and old Japanese cafe), and various events take 
place at an open space. In the summer night, many buttock's lights of firefly 
dance elegantly above the river flowing through the center of garden. If you 
wanted to visit at the time, I advise that you must take a flashlight for no 
streetlight around the promenade. There is a river on the immediate side of the promenade, so you may fall into the brook. Please be careful.
