熱海の桜 Sakura in Atami

熱海には、アタミザクラという桜がある。糸川沿いに列を成し、並木を作っている。
There are Atami Zakura in Atami. It makes two lines along Ito (meaning a
thread) river.
１年半前に越してきたのだが、”日本一早く咲く桜”との触れ込みに、初めは本当か？と訝った。だが、それは事実であった。写真は今年１月２４日の撮影で、沖縄の開花よりも早かった。
熱海では、梅よりも先にサクラが来るのであった。
I moved to Atami one and a half years ago. At first, I suspected the
announcement that this Sakura blossom earliest in Japan. But it is true. I took
this photo at 24, January, and Atami Zakura bloomed earlier than Someiyoshino in Okinawa.
In Atami, Sakura blooming is earlier than Ume (plum).
下向きに、やや紅色の濃い花弁を集めているのが、愛らしい。
The flowers are assembled densely and seem to bloom to look down. The
shape is so lovely.
他では桜の開花予想がテレビの天気予報を賑わせている時期であるのに、熱海ではすっかり葉桜である。
花の寿命は長く、１月の下旬に先始め、２月の後半まで、およそひと月ほどめでることができる。温泉目的で訪れた観光客が、思わぬ桜の開花に出会って驚いているのを、よく目にする。
Now it is the time that the weather news is busy to report the flower forecast for cherry blossom, but Atami Zakura already become cherry trees in only leaves.
The life of flowers is long, so it had bloomed from late January to late February. Therefore, we can enjoy it for almost one month. I see the scenes that the
tourists who aim to enjoy Onsen are surprised with the untimely cherry blossom many times.
桜並木は、海までおよそ２００ｍくらい続いているだろうか。明るいうちに糸川沿いを海まで下り、日が暮れてからお酒を片手に夜桜を眺めるのも、一考であろう。
The lines of Atami Zakura continue to the sea for about 200m, I think. It my be a good idea that you go down to the sea at the noon time and go back along the
river with drinking some liquor after sunset.
