When I checked in, I was told that dinner would be served from 6:00 or 6:30 
p.m.

海岸からの日の入りも、ジオパークの景観を生かした絶景だと伺っている。日没の時間を調べてみると、18時であった。
I'd heard that the sunset viewed from the coast is also a spectacular sight that made the most of the Geopark's scenery. When I looked up the sunset time, I 
knew it was 6:00 p.m.

これならば夕食の時間を18時半に設定してもらえば、夕暮れを眺めた後にゆっくり食事を堪能できる。事情を話し、夕食を18時半からで御願いした。
If I could set dinner time at 6:30 p.m., I'd be able to enjoy the meal leisurely 
after watching the sunset. I explained my ideal situation and requested that my dinner start at 6:30 p.m.

手頃な形や大きさの岩を選んでカメラを固定し、プラカップに入った白ワインを片手に腰を下ろす。海景の両側は屹立した巨岩に挟まれている。海上で夕陽を眺めようと、数隻のサップが点影になっている。
I chose the rocks of the convenient shape and size and fixed my camera by 
using them. And I sat down with a plastic cup of white wine in hand. On either 
side of the seascape, towering boulders rose sheer. Out on the water, a few 
paddleboards appeared as tiny silhouettes, drifting as their riders watch the 
sunset.

実は浮島海岸は、東野圭吾原作のミステリー「真夏の方程式」の映画の舞台としても使用されていた。
In fact, Futou Beach was also used as the setting for the movie setting of 
"Midsummer Equation," based on a novel by Higashino Keigo.

福山雅治を主演に、杏や吉高由里子を配し、風吹ジュンや前田吟などのいぶし銀の役者も起用した心躍るキャストであった。
The film starred Fukuyama Masaharu in the lead role, alongside An ( the name of actress) and Yuriko Yoshitaka. The cast was exciting, including seasoned 
actors such as Jun Fubuki and Gin Maeda.

物理学者が、死因に纏わる物事の本質を科学的に分析することで、ひょんなことから知り合った子供との夏休みの思い出を作りつつ、宿で起こった殺人事件も解析していく。何故、殺害された被害者は玻璃ヶ浦を訪れたのか、を探ることで、過去に解決した殺人事件と関連していき、実はその犯人が…。

この映画、あるいは小説のキーは、事件の経緯を悟った福山が言う「慎重に捜査を進めなければ、ある人物の人生が大きく捻じ曲がる危険性がある」である。
The key in this film, and the novel, is a statement told by Fukuyama, who 
realized the circumstances of the case. He said "If we do not proceed with 
the investigation very carefully, there is a risk that a person's life will be 
greatly twisted."

杏が海から出てきた海岸と、福山と少年がロケットを飛ばすために歩いた砂浜
が、子供の頃に毎年訪れていた吉佐美大浜海岸の右隣の小さな海岸、亜相浜だった。
The beach where An emerges from the sea and the sandy beach where 
Fukuyama and the boy walked through to launch the rocket are both Asohama. The small beach is located next to the right of Kisami Ohama Beach which I 
visited every year in a childhood.

岩穴の向こうに海原が見える、福山と少年が歩いた岩場は、竜宮窟である。ここは、波打ち際から眺める上空がハートの形になっている。
The rocky area where Fukuyama and the boy walked through and the ocean 
could be seen through the rock hole, is Ryugu Sea Cave. The sky which we 
look up from the shore looks like a heart shape.

映画内での海中の景色は、ここ浮島海岸と、南伊豆で有名なもう一つの海岸である。この後ちょうどそちらを訪れたので、次の記事で紹介したい。
The underwater scenery shown in the film is of Futou Beach and another 
famous beach in Southern Izu. I happened to visit the beach shortly after here. So, I'd like to introduce it in my next article.
撮影で使用された旅館である。映画では「緑岩荘（ろくがんそう）」だが、実名は「五輪館」である。
The photos is Japanese hotel used in filming. In the movie, it's called 
"Rokuganso," but its real name is "Gorinkan."

なお、小説の方が、直接的に少年の心の移り変わりを理解することができる。分厚いが、平易で読みやすい文章なので、あっという間に読み終えることができよう。
The novel allows us to understand the changes in the boy's mind more directly 
than the film. It's a thick book, but the writing is simple and easy to read. So 
you'll likely finish it in no time.

宿泊した宿には、2階に上がる階段脇にポスターが貼られていた。
At the inn where I was staying, there was a poster posted on the wall beside the staircase leading to the second floor.
入り口の受付の隣りには、映画の紹介と共に、福山雅治直筆のサインを記した色紙が飾られていた。旅館の名も記されている。
Next to the reception desk at the entrance, "Shikishi (A square piece of white 
cardboard for signing or other writing)" signed by Masaharu Fukuyama was on display. The name of Japanese hotel was also written on it.
女将さんの話では、福山雅治本人は宿泊しなかったが、撮影スタッフが宿泊したそうである。
In the talk of the female innkeeper, Fukuyama Masaharu himself did not stay 
here. But the filming staff did.
