”七湯めぐり”と書いたが、残念ながら湯船に浸かれるわけではない。そのため、源泉が湧き出ている場所そのものを、巡るだけである。大正の頃（関東大震災）までは、どこも自噴していたらしい。ただ、それぞれにその名のついた由来があり、成分や効能が異なるのが面白い。七湯はちょうど、銀座通り界隈にある。プリンでもモンブランでも食べ歩きながら、あるいは缶ビールや缶チューハイを片手に、さらっと巡ってみるのも、良いかもしれない。三十分あれば、一回りできるだろう。

目の湯　佐治郎の湯

銀座通りに位置している。火傷に効能があるが、眼病にも効くので、この名であるらしい。かつて、ここは佐治郎さんの家の敷地内だった。

Though I write "Seven hot spring tour", I'm sorry that you can't soak the bathtub. Therefore, you just go around the places where the sources spring. The hot 
springs had erupted at every sources until Taisho era (the big earthquake of 
Kanto occurred). But it is interesting that they had each origin of the name and also the different ingredient and efficacy. Conveniently, the seven sources are 
near "Ginza street." So you can take a quick tour with eating "Atami pudding" or the special "mont blanc." If you had the extra thirty minutes, you could go 
through every places.

"Hot Spring for the eyes" or "Hot Spring of Sajirou"

It is placed at the side of Ginza street. The hot water is effective in not only the 
injury by the burn but also the disease of eyes. It is the origin of the name. Here was once in the ground possessed by Sajirou.
河原湯　

サンビーチに最も近い源泉である。昔は、熱海の村民や近隣の村人たちのための浴場であったらしい。当時、この辺りは岩の多い海沿いの河原であった。あるいは、浴場の屋根が瓦葺であったことが、名の由来とも言われている。塩分濃度が高いため、人が入ると湯が白く濁ったとか。関節痛やリューマチに効能があるらしい。

"Hot Spring of Kawara"

It is closest to "Sun Beach." There was once a bathhouse for the residents of 
Atami and the neighbor villages. It is the origin of the name that here was the 
rocky shore ("Kawara" in Japanese) at the time. Or the bathhouse had the tiled roof ("Kawara Yane" in Japanese). As it was high salinity, the water seemed to 
be white and cloudy when people soaked into the bath. It is effective in the 
arthralgia and rheumatism.

清左衛門の湯

馬に乗って走っていた清左衛門さんが、うっかりここの湯壺に落っこちてしまい、あえなく焼け死んでしまったのが、この名の由来であるらしい。そんなことで名が残ってしまうことも含め、何とも悲運な清兵衛さんである。今は湯は出ていないが、昔はたゆまず噴き出していたそうである。湯壺は、人の声量の大小に反応するので、その都度異なる湯量で噴き出したとか。

"Hot Spring of Seizaemon"

Seizaimon rode a horse. But he accidentally fell into this hole of the hot spring. He died by burning unfortunately. The story is the origin of the name. He had a sorrow destiny including his name remaining now by such the stupid story. The hot spring don't erupt from the source now. But it was said that the hot water 
always erupted in the old days. The hole of the hot spring responded to the 
volume of human's voices. When loud, it erupted a lot of the hot water. When 
small, a little.
風呂の湯　水の湯

昔は湯気が盛んに湧き上がっていたので、お饅頭を蒸したり、お酒を燗にしたりするために、利用されていたそうである。この脇に、塩気のない無味の、別の温泉が湧いていた。それが”水の湯”である。

"Hot Spring of Furo (the bath in Japanese)" "Hot Spring of Mizu"

As the steam vigorously was welling up in the old time, people used to steam 
the buns and warm Japanese Sake. At the side of this source, another hot 
spring which didn't include the salt erupted. It is the hot spring of Mizu.
小沢の湯　平左衛門の湯

ここには、よく人が集まる。理由は、湧き上がる高熱の蒸気を利用して、その場で温泉卵が作れるからである。１０分が目安らしい。

地元、熱海のスキューバ・ダイビングのインストラクターさんから、カボチャなんかも蒸してみると、温泉の成分が美味しくしてくれると窺っていた。また、１０分は長いので、若干短めにすると中が半熟で最高らしい。昼は案外人が多いので、この日の夜にでも試してみようと訪れたら……、工事中である。どうしたことなのか。細い立て看板があるので一読してみると…、まさかの事態に、ユンボの改築作業を始めようとしているその場で、固まってしまった。

「…温泉卵を作ることができなくなります。」

唯一の、直の温泉を利用した楽しいアトラクションなのに、何故？目の前の酒屋さんには、このためにわざわざ生卵を仕入れている。見かけるのは、観光の方々だけではない。メッシュの網に大量の卵を入れて持参している地元の方も、時折見かけた。なのに、どうして。

大概がその場で食す。おそらくゴミ問題が切っ掛けであろう。それは解るが、ほかに手段や案はなかったのか。あまりにも勿体ない。

"Hot Spring of Kosawa” "Hot Spring of Heizaemon"

People gather here. The reason is that we can use the steam to make "Onsen Egg." It takes about 10 minutes.

I was taught by the instructor of the scuba diving in Atami that a pumpkin 
became delicious by steaming here because the ingredients of the hot spring 
were added to it. Moreover, about 8 minutes was the best time to steam the egg as we could make the soft-boiled eggs. There are a lot of people here. 
Therefore, I'm going to come here to try it at the night....... Here is under 
reconstruction. Why? There was a thin billboard. After I read it, I was stuck in 
the unexpected situation in spite of the operator of an excavator who waited 
the timing I leave.  

" ......won't make "Onsen Egg" here after the reconstruction."

Though here was the only fun attraction which can use Onsen directly, why did 
the Atami city hall decide to do so? The liquor shop in front of this Onsen is 
selling eggs for the tourists. In addition, the persons who I saw here were not 
only the tourists but also the local persons who brought many eggs in the mesh bag. 

Almost people ate the eggs here. I considered that the reason was the problem associated with the garbage. Though I understood it, they need to search other ideas or means. This way is too spoiled.
野中の湯

ここも小沢の湯と同様、熱い湯気が噴き出ている。近づいて嗅いでみると、硫黄が匂う。正直なところあまり心地よい香りではないが、温泉地にいることを実感する。

かつてここは泥地であり、杖を突いたところ、湧き出したらしい。底が浅かったので、浴場はなかったそうである。それにつけても、湯気の勢いが凄まじい。

"Hot Spring of Nonaka"

Here also erupt the hot steam like "Hot Spring of Kosawa." When I closed to it 
and smell the steam, I realize the sulfur. I felt it was not good smell honestly. But the smell is enough for me to feel coming to Onsen.

Here was once the swamp. It seemed that the hot spring sprung up after a 
person stab here by a cane. Anyway, the power of the steam was tremendous.
