スキューバダイビングを始めて２年半くらいになる。マスクの帯にカメラを装着し、ハンズフリーでダイビング中の動画を撮影し続けている。個人的にはけったいな姿形や生き様の生物に興味があるので、そちらに目線が寄ることが多い。中でも、アオリイカに遭遇するとその度に、敵ではないよ、怪しくないとよ、と心で念じつつじわじわ接近している。
アオリイカは産卵すると、その一生を終える。動画の数も量も多いとは言えないので拙速ではあるが、昨年をメインに、これまで個人で撮影した動画で回想することにした。

It’s been about two and a half years since I started to play scuba diving. I kept
recording videos while diving hands-free with attaching a camera to the mask
belt. Personally, I’m interested in the creatures which have the strange shape
and the unique life style. So, my eyes are naturally drawn to them. In the
creatures, I was slowly closing to the bigfin squid especially with talking “I’m not your enemy, I’m not suspicious.” in my mind every time I met.

life through my video, mainly last year’s video.

from nearby mountain and carried them by a truck. Then, Kawana’s fishermen
loaded them on the ships and sunk them approximately at the appropriate
locations. In the meantime, the instructors dived into the sea. They pulled the
sinking trees and moved them to each designated position. It is the very hard
work underwater.

普段アオリイカは深場に生息しているが、産卵の時期には浅場へやってくる。いくら木陰があるとはいえ、卵が捕食されないのは不思議であったが、エンドウ豆様の卵の中にはバクテリアが住んでおり、魚類が嫌いな物質を放出していると考えられているそうである。20日ほどで孵化する。浅場で育ち、冬になってから深場に移動する。

だがここ１年間、遭遇する度に寄り添った（つもりである）成果なのか（と、思いたい）。アオリイカの産卵の大乱舞を、初めて観察することができた。アオリイカの方も産卵に熱中し、興奮しているようで、我々の存在をまったく気にしていないようである。圧巻であった。
真上を去る際に少し速度を落としたアオリイカの目が、”お前の前で産卵したよ。見てたか？”と語っているように思えた。ありがとう！そして、お疲れ様！
