大晦日から元旦にかけての仕事が早朝に終わり、帰途に就く。ここふた月近く、親しい知人と会うことがなく、ひたすら決められた予定に沿って暮らしていた。そのせいか、年末年始の実感が全くない。電車を乗り継いで熱海駅に到着すると、ちょうど夜空が明るくなり始めてくる。

After I finished the work from the last day of the year to New Year's Day, I got on the way home. I haven't seen my familiar friends for the past two months and passed my life according to the set schedules. Maybe because of that, I don't really feel the year-end and New Year holidays at all. When I transferred the trains and arrived at Atami station, the dark night sky was just starting to get brighter gradually.

昨年は、住んでいるビルの屋上から初日の出を拝むことができた。熱海の市街は高いビルが林立しているが、たまたまビルの合間から日が昇ってくれたのである。折角、海の傍に住んでいるのだから、今年は広い海原の長い水平線から浮き上がる日の出を見ようと、撮影用の脚立やゆっくり観賞するための折り畳み椅子などを大急ぎで準備して、サンビーチへと馳せ参じた。
コロナが５類に移行したからだろうか。昨年との比較はできないのだが、想定以上に人だらけである。波打ち際にはほぼ端から端まで、黒い人影が一列に並んでいた。
Last year, I could worship the first sunrise from the roof of the building which I live in. Though many tall buildings stand like a forest in Atami city, it was very lucky that the sun rose just between the buildings. Now I live near the sea. As I wanted to watch the sunrise rising from the long horizon of the wide ocean, I prepared a stepladder for taking pictures and a folding chair for my relax view and rushed to Sun Beach.
I don't know the reason is that the Category of "Covid-19" decreased from the top to 5. Though I can't compare today's situation with the last year's, it's very crowded beyond my assumption. Many black figures of watchers lined from end to end along the beach.

水平線から太陽がぽっつり姿を現すと、俄かに周囲の景色や浜辺の空気が一変する。感動してどよめきを上げる者があれば、饒舌になる者もいる。何よりも、大晦日がようやく開け、２０２４年が始まったことを身に染みて実感するのであった。
When the first sunrise appeared from the horizon like a point, the surrounding scenery and the atmosphere on the beach suddenly changed completely. Some made a voice from the impression, others became talkative. Anyway, I could really realize to finish New Year's Eve and begin the new year, 2024.
日の出のすぐ右に、初島の島影がある。そのさらに右方には、やや霞んだ伊豆大島の姿を眺めることができた。寒い冬の、澄み切った冷たい空気のおかげである。
At the near right side of the sunrise, there was Hatsushima which I introduced the other articles. Further to the right side of that, I could look at the slightly hazy view of Izu Oshima. It was grace of the clear and cold air in the winter.
長い時間がかかるであろうことを想定してしっかり防寒してきたものの、ほんの１５分程度で太陽は水平線からすっかり離れ、本来の眩しさを取り戻していた。労働後の疲れた眼には、さすがに耐えがたい。持ち寄ったお酒もまだだいぶ余っていたが、早々に帰宅することにした。
As I assumed that the sunrise would take a long time, I wore many warm clothes to protect myself from the cold. However, the sun left away from the horizon in only about 15 minutes and already regained its original brightness. As my eyes were tired from the job, I couldn't really intolerable. Though I still had quite a bit of liqueur which I brought, I decided to go to home right now.
