I climbed the stairs at the left side of the main hall to hydrangea garden. The
staircase was already narrow. In addition, it was sandwiched between
hydrangeas spilling out from both sides. Therefore, the space became too
narrow.
The beginning of hydrangea garden was that the current chief priest cut the
thick weeds that had grown in the temple grounds and planted about ten
hydrangeas when he entered the temple. Then, he repeated the cuttings every year. Now, hundreds of hydrangeas are blooming in the garden. The reason of many kinds of hydrangeas is that some visitors who watched the priest’s love
for hydrangeas brought rare species from here and there for him.
Many carpenter bees were flying as they were induced by the fragrance of the
flowers.

“Enoura Gulf” too. As some benches were installed, everybody would pass the slow and calm time with looking at the nice view.
On the way to go down “Dinitidou Sandou (the approaching stairs for Dainishido Hall)”, there were a garden where thirty-three Kannon statues carved in various poses were arranged. It may be fun that you observe them with considering
what kind of feeling they represent. Some child stocks of hydrangeas were
planted in the garden. In addition, we can enjoy the view of Enoura Gulf from
here too.

Sometimes, I feel envy to the tree because of their lifespan much longer than
human. This large camphor tree have lived over 500 years. So, it continues to
observe and feel all historical transition of Enoura Gulf through the skin. How
does this thick trunk think about the change of the times by human egoism?
When I touched the skin of the tree, it’s warm.
